The assumptions do the work.
Six drivers. Instant recalculation.
11.3% operating margin at $40,000 selling price
18% operating margin → $6.3B operating profit
$10,000 Tesla revenue / active vehicle / year
$1.3B conditional profit → $0.4B weighted
Values growth and reinvestment after 2030. EV/NOPAT, not P/E.
Each value is a modeling assumption. Base uses a reverse-calibrated terminal multiple.
196.8× terminal EV/NOPAT: reverse-calibrated to the $367.16 close on Oct 14, 2026, at 10% required annual return, using operating and capital assumptions at calibration. This reflects the market price under those assumptions; it is not an observed trading multiple or an independent fair-value estimate.

CHALLENGE THE ASSUMPTIONS
Which inputs move the value?
2030 USD per share. Other assumptions held constant.
| Robotaxi probability | 98.4× | 196.8× | 295.3× |
|---|---|---|---|
| 10% | $274 | $540 | $805 |
| 30% | $279 | $549Selected | $819 |
| 50% | $283 | $558 | $832 |
Across the displayed ranges, the terminal multiple moves the share price more than robotaxi probability. The displayed ranges are local comparisons, not likelihood estimates.
Your discount-rate assumption for the present equivalent and reverse question. It leaves undiscounted 2030 earnings and share value unchanged. It is not a predicted return or measured cost of capital.
REVERSE VALUATIONWhat would justify the reference price?
Hold your operating and capital-structure inputs constant. Start with the $367.16 Oct 14, 2026 close and require 10% annual return through December 31, 2030.
- Required 2030 share price
- $549
- Required 2030 equity value
- $2,366.8B
- Required EV bridge before branch floors
- $2,329.9B
Above illustrative preset range. This reconciles the selected operating assumptions with the reference price and required return. It is not an observed market multiple.
The forward multiple remains 196.8×. A quote alone cannot identify one unique set of operating expectations.
This switches to Custom and records the calibration in the page and share-card footnotes. Values above 400× cannot be applied.

How Base is calibrated
Base holds its operating assumptions fixed and solves the terminal EV/NOPAT multiple so that 2030 equity per share, discounted at 10% annually, equals the dated reference close. The share price is the calibration target, not independent validation of the operating assumptions or terminal multiple. Reset restores this calibration; subsequent edits keep the multiple fixed until you change or explicitly recalibrate it.
An independent multiple benchmark
A benchmark uses 8% annual NOPAT growth for 10 years, 20% returns on new invested capital and a 9% cost of capital. Growth requires reinvesting 40% of NOPAT. Thereafter, 3% growth and 15% capital returns require 20% reinvestment. Discounting those post-2030 cash flows gives 18.23× 2030 NOPAT, rounded to 18×. These judgment-based assumptions do not establish fair value.
For comparison, 12× illustrates mature economics; 28× illustrates a higher growth runway. These are benchmarks, not supplied scenarios. EV/NOPAT is not trailing or forward P/E. Growth can consume more cash and does not automatically justify a higher multiple. Growth and reinvestment framework ↗
Operating economics
Automotive profit includes attributable operating costs and stock compensation before separate central expenses. Selling price supplies revenue and margin context. Energy profit is revenue × margin. Other profit covers services and other operations; no extra FSD, regulatory-credit or Optimus option value is added.
Robotaxi fleet is annual-average active third-party vehicles. Passenger spending × Tesla’s take rate is platform revenue; revenue × operating margin is conditional profit. Owners fund vehicles, maintenance and their share of costs. Tesla’s margin covers support, insurance obligations and attributable technology costs. No Tesla-owned fleet or internal vehicle sale is valued.
Probability jointly covers fleet scale and unit economics. Failure contributes zero robotaxi profit, with core central expenses retained. Success/failure taxes and enterprise/equity floors are applied before weighting. The required return handles time and overall risk; avoid increasing it again solely to penalize the same commercialization event.
Shares and capital structure
Start with 3.9495B actual common shares on July 16, 2026. Additional net dilution compounds for 4.46 years. Issued shares appear once. Future awards, options and issuance use the annual dilution assumption; the diluted-EPS award increment is not added again.
Net cash excludes $0.286B restricted insurance investments and subtracts debt and finance leases. Non-operating assets start with the Q2 $3.007B SpaceX stake and $0.674B digital assets; holding these values to 2030 is editable, uncertain and before potential disposal taxes. Investment gains and cash interest are excluded from operating profits. Minority interests are deducted once. Operating lease expenses stay in margins; operating lease liabilities are not separately deducted.
Net-cash change must absorb future capital spending, working capital, retained cash and financing. It is a simplified bridge, not an annual cash-flow forecast. Segment operating margins and compensation milestones require judgment. The terminal-equity present equivalent omits interim dividends and is not a full DCF.
